After last week’s sneak peek, JETMAN officially presented his formation and precision flight abilities to the press for the first time on July 2nd during the Breitling Flying days in Buochs, Switzerland, by flying together with and around the Breitling Wingwalkers for 3 minutes! Check out some photos here!

Now that the flight behavior and reliability tests of Jetman’s new delta wing have shown it to be much safer and comfortable to fly than all the previous prototypes… it’s time to push it a little further and see what it’s capable of!

Yves Rossy is working on a new opening system for his parachute. He’s testing a pyrotechnical system,based on a rocket which will extract the parachute at lightning speed, to improve his security. This new system should also allow him to fly closer from the ground, which means more fun for the public.

The name of the first man flying thanks to a jet-propelled wing, Yves Rossy, was mentioned in the episode 11 (season 7) by the television series NICS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service).

The performance of the Swiss pilot Yves Rossy has been recognized to the most popular television series. Broadcast in prime time in the United States the 5th January on CBS in front of more than 21 millions of television viewers, the episode of NCIS entitled “Ignition” proposes an investigation on the world of “jetpack”, very small-sized aircrafts.

In this episode, the agent Timothy McGee, fascinated by the subject, explains to his colleague Abby the recent progress in motorized human flight, quoting in the 8th minute and 40 seconds Yves Rossy and his jet-propelled wing. Jetman gain a new recognition!

New challenges lie ahead of Yves Rossy: a lighter and more powerful prototype is currently under development. This should allow take-off from the ground and more freedom to realize aerobatics. Looping is awaited! His next official flight is planned in autumn 2010.
